Termination with mutual consent

Employment agreements in the Netherlands are most often terminated with mutual consent. Not legal proceedings. Parties negotiate the conditions for termination and these are recorded in a written settlement agreement. Our lawyers negotiate these deals on a daily basis.

Independent legal advice

Sec Employment Lawyers is a boutique firm, fully specialized in employment law. We can assess whether the offer presented to you is fair and (at the least) in line with Dutch law. Often, the initial offer is not more then a start of negotiations and a better deal can be made. We know Dutch employment law as our back pocket and are fully dedicated to assist you in achieving the maximum result.

Compensation, and?

Not only the height of the severance is of importance when negotiating the terms for termination. Making arrangements on issues like the date of termination, safeguarding unemployment benefits, paid holidays, non-compete clauses, legal and outplacement costs, is vital as well.

Expert advice

Have the draft agreement agreement reviewed by an employment lawyer. It is common practice that these costs are covered by your employer.
